As there have been many requests to fix the guest modules of vmware (which I don’t need myself) I’ve fixed them so they build and seems to load correctly and work (I’ve tested them on opensuse 12.1 milestone 2 which has a 2.6.39 kernel and built them well also on ubuntu 11.10 which has a 3.0-rc kernel). Again also in this code the issues where the same: fs api being changed kernel side and so incompatible, use of lock_kernel() which was announced that it would be removed since quite a while as it was deprecated and the use of deprecated since an even longer time SPINLOCK definitions. Many parts of the patch where a copy and paste from the host one at the end… In order to run the patch the instructions are practically the same extract all the tars in a folder and apply the patch to that folder, then recompress them like they where before notice the files are in the /usr/lib/vmware-tools/modules/source. I’ve included also a modification of the patch script for use with these modules which required some fixes as I got files with wrong permissions from the original tars.

It seems it has been a while since I’ve posted the logs of the previous meetings but I think I will now catch up and post them all in here.

Questions in these meetings tend to be quite similar: spells missing which are referenced in quests, difficulty of training and other similar things (which are being repeated most time by the same people). So, well…, enjoy reading them. I hope I didn’t lose some of those.
